Simultaneous GCxGC-TOFMS/FID Analysis of Synthetic Aviation Fuels
Reference Number: lpss-319
Overview
The global push for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) has spurred the development of various production pathways, each requiring rigorous chemical testing for regulatory approval. Comprehensive characterization is essential not only for identifying bulk hydrocarbons but also for detecting polar oxygenated and aromatic compounds that impact fuel performance.
By utilizing the Pegasus BT 4D equipped with the Paradigm™ flow-based (Reverse-Fill-Flush) modulator and the Shift™ splitter, researchers can perform simultaneous dual-detection. This configuration directs the sample to both a Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (TOFMS) for high-confidence identification and a Flame Ionization Detector (FID) for robust quantitation. This integrated approach provides a powerful, single-injection workflow for detailed group-type composition analysis, helping producers ensure that synthetic fuels meet the exacting standards of the commercial aviation industry.
