Characterization of Traditional and Emerging Fuels
Overview
To address these challenges, researchers utilize comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography (GCxGC) paired with simultaneous detection. By employing the Paradigm™ reverse-fill-flush modulator and the Shift™ flow splitter, the system delivers the sample to both a Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometer (TOFMS) for speciated identification and a Flame Ionization Detector (FID) for unbiased bulk quantitation.
This integrated approach eliminates the quantitation bias often found in traditional splitters, particularly at high temperatures. Combined with ChromaTOF software for automated peak linking and group-type classification, this workflow provides a powerful solution for the detailed characterization of traditional aviation fuels and the next generation of synthetic energy sources.
