Tambi\u00e9n presentan respuestas similares a las enfermedades y terapias. Debido a que los primates no humanos son seres vivos, la investigaci\u00f3n con ellos est\u00e1 altamente restringida y regulada. Cuando se considera necesario, se prefieren los procedimientos m\u00ednimamente invasivos. La mayor parte de la investigaci\u00f3n se realiza utilizando sangre, l\u00edquido de lavado broncoalveolar o tomograf\u00edas por emisi\u00f3n de positrones combinadas con tomograf\u00eda computarizada (PET-CT). Sin embargo, la recolecci\u00f3n de aliento es menos invasiva que cualquiera de estos m\u00e9todos y solo requiere intubaci\u00f3n bajo sedaci\u00f3n ligera durante tres a cinco minutos, mientras los sujetos respiran libremente. Utilizar este enfoque podr\u00eda reducir significativamente el trauma para los animales de investigaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Este m\u00e9todo no invasivo de respiraci\u00f3n libre se utiliz\u00f3 como parte de un estudio piloto para establecer un perfil respiratorio central para primates sanos no humanos. Los perfiles respiratorios de los primates se han observado anteriormente como una forma de identificar primates enfermos de los sanos. Sin embargo, parece que antes de este estudio a\u00fan no se hab\u00eda establecido un perfil respiratorio de referencia para primates sanos. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAparte de los compuestos ex\u00f3genos, el aliento exhalado incluye mol\u00e9culas creadas a partir del metabolismo normal, los microbiomas y los procesos espec\u00edficos de enfermedades. Existen huellas de aliento publicadas para enfermedades infecciosas, c\u00e1nceres y trastornos metab\u00f3licos en humanos, por lo que es l\u00f3gico deducir que el aliento de los PNH (primates no humanos) tambi\u00e9n puede utilizarse para monitorizar su salud (Bobak et al., 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Se espera que los resultados de dicha investigaci\u00f3n ayuden en otros estudios, especialmente en la investigaci\u00f3n en humanos, que involucran enfermedades, terapias y vacunas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Este estudio, financiado con subvenciones de la Fundaci\u00f3n Bill y Melinda Gates, el Fondo Burroughs-Wellcome y los Institutos Nacionales de Salud, se llev\u00f3 a cabo utilizando un instrumento LECO GCxGC-TOFMS. El instrumento pudo separar cromatogr\u00e1ficamente y analizar las muestras de aliento de 30 macacos sanos (m\u00e1s 19 muestras adicionales utilizadas como conjunto de validaci\u00f3n), y los datos resultantes se procesaron y alinearon utilizando la funci\u00f3n Statistical Compare de nuestro software ChromaTOF\u00ae.
