Multi-Mode Source

The innovative Multi-Mode Source (MMS) takes all of the advantages of the three most common ionization modes—Electron Ionization (EI), Positive Chemical Ionization (PCI), and Negative Chemical Ionization (NCI/ECNI)—and combines them into one easy-to-use source. No more hardware switching, no more alignment issues: with the MMS, changing ionization modes is as easy as a click of a button.

The new MMS combined with the Pegasus GC-HRT+ provides great mass accuracy and high resolution on pseudo-molecular ions, which complements the traditional Electron Ionization Source (HR-EI) to provide the comprehensive characterization of unknowns. By not touching the hardware, peaks stay aligned between the ionization modes. Each of the three modes is available for GC-MS and GCxGC-MS analyses on both the Pegasus GC-HRT+ and the Pegasus GC-HRT+ 4D.
