LECO Pegasus® BTX Mass Spectrometer Nominated for “Coolest Thing Made in Michigan” Award

What is the Pegasus BTX?

As a highly sensitive mass spectrometer, the BTX helps keep consumer items safe and reliable by analyzing the chemical makeup of everyday products. Using the power of gas chromatography – mass spectrometry, it detects trace levels of contaminants to ensure the food we eat is safe, verify the quality of fuels, monitor environmental pollutants, and support the development of safer consumer products.

Fragrance manufacturers, research labs, major food and beverage producers, universities, and more all use the BTX to ensure their products are up to high-quality standards and meet regulations, or to discover new information about what something is made of.

How To Vote For the BTX

The winner will be decided by the people’s choice—voting is open to the public and begins on 9 September at the Coolest Thing Made in Michigan website (micoolestthing.org). Voters may cast one vote per day. The first round of voting ends 17 September and will determine the top 10 products. A second round of voting will then commence from 28 September–7 October to determine the top three finalists. The manufacturers of the top three will be invited to attend the Manufacturing Excellence Awards event, where the winner will then be announced. This award is given annually by the Michigan Manufacturers Association.
