812 Series Carbon and Moisture Determinators
Introducción
Carbon and moisture determination is faster and easier than ever with the LECO 812 Series. Utilizing thermal differentiation, multiple phases of both total carbon and moisture can be identified in a single run without the hassle of time-consuming or hazardous sample preparation. By replacing labor-intensive preparation techniques such as acid digestion and multiple standalone analyses, the 812 Series streamlines laboratory workflows and reduces hands-on technician time. Thermal differentiation enables direct measurement of carbon and moisture fractions without hazardous reagents or extensive sample treatment, helping laboratories improve safety, simplify compliance, and accelerate time-to-results.
This next-generation multiphase analyzer provides enhanced sensitivity so that even low-level carbon and moisture can be detected, ensuring strict specifications are met with confidence. Its flexible programming makes it reliable for a wide range of applications, including testing surface carbon on inorganic materials, detecting moisture in welds, and quantifying total organic carbon in soil. Faster heating and cooling times allow operators to move through more samples in less time.
More flexible, faster, and more convenient than previous generations, this new and improved carbon and moisture determinator is a reliable and worthwhile addition to labs looking to increase their overall safety, cleanliness, and throughput.
Why Choose the LECO 812 Series

Reduce Your Wait Time Between Samples
With an efficiently designed horizontal furnace, the 812 Series boasts excellent temperature control, allowing for staged heating and active cooling. Compared with previous generations, it performs up to 50% faster temperature ramp-ups and 30% faster cool-downs, resulting in less waiting time to begin new analyses.
Using thermal differentiation, carbon and moisture can be measured simultaneously, increasing efficiency and allowing you to do more with your samples.

Designed with the Operator in Mind
The 812 Series was engineered to maximize uptime and simplify routine operation. A thoughtfully designed chassis with both front- and side-access gives operators rapid access to critical service points, reducing maintenance time and minimizing disruptions to laboratory workflows. Combined with enhanced diagnostics, segmented leak checks, and simplified furnace tube connections, routine troubleshooting and service activities can be completed faster and with greater confidence.
Building on LECO’s Cornerstone platform, the 812 Series couples robust hardware with intuitive software to streamline daily operation. From calibration and method development to data review and reporting, Cornerstone software reduces training requirements and helps users work more efficiently. The result is a safer, more productive laboratory.

Customization to Fit Your Needs
The 812 Series gives users the freedom to choose what is best for their specific applications. Featuring a programmable multi-atmosphere furnace, users can choose between fixed or ramped heating, as well as oxygen gas or nitrogen gas. This kind of flexibility allows for a vast range of applications, making it ideal for labs that want to run multiple analytical solutions on a single instrument.

Detect Lower Levels with Higher Precision
Never feel uncertain about meeting specifications with the 812 Series’ heightened sensitivity. It accurately detects ultra-low levels of carbon and moisture even in traditionally difficult matrices, such as high-purity metal powders and superalloys.

How the CM812 Works
The CM812 analyzer determines carbon and moisture in a wide range of organic and inorganic materials using a programmable furnace that precisely controls temperature from near ambient to 1100 °C in either oxidizing (oxygen) or inert (nitrogen) atmospheres. Through configurable heating profiles and purge gases, the system selectively volatilizes or combusts different sample constituents, while an afterburner and oxidation catalyst ensure complete conversion to measurable gases.
Carbon and moisture are quantified by infrared detection of CO₂ and H₂O, and the resulting data allow users to differentiate and quantify multiple carbon and moisture fractions based on their volatilization or oxidation temperatures. This temperature-based approach enables direct characterization of complex samples without extensive sample preparation, providing both qualitative insight and quantitative results.
